He-Man and the Masters of the Universe - guide to becoming a master of the Universe (part 4)
This post explicates the characters and themes of one episode of the He-Man cartoon from the perspective of Hermetics and Metaphysics. The ancient philosophers (many of whom were running their own mystery schools, and therefore, masters of Hermetic teachings) were of the belief that Pathos (appealing to and conjuring emotions) could produce an erroneous response or error of reason when unbalanced by Logos (logic) and Ethos (facts). In this episode, Evil-lyn, which sounds like "evil-in", a possible reference to "the evil within" all mankind, turns Cathos/Pathos into a sand slug, an animal without a spine.

He-Man iconography also contains similar interweaving between ancient mythologies that hold archetypal teachings. For instance, He-Man takes inspiration from Viking lore and his twin sister, Adora, becomes She-Ra, which is like saying, Female Ra. In Egyptian mythology, the female form of Ra, the sun god, would be Isis, the goddess who wears a solar disc that is held up between two horns. Moreover, it is fitting that the writers would make the connection between the two counterparts, as the Vikings were well-known to wear horned helmets into battle.

Among the teachings in the Solomonic lineage, is the symbolic idea that man is here to regain his crown, which is the quest for empowerment that befalls each person universally. On the most basic level, from the mystery school point of view, this relates to the crown chakra and our connection to Universal source energy and flow; our ability to create and manifest in life. On another level, this also relates to self-worth and self-confidence, which usually needs to be restored in one way or another; along with finding true purpose in life and living up to one's best and highest potential, which are concerns that also relate to the third-eye chakra. Moreover, these teachings, which we know as Metaphysics, were formerly referred to as Kingcraft or the Study of Regal Principle.
